This release introduces passkey authentication, bringing a faster and more secure way to sign in without passwords, along with a series of improvements designed to streamline onboarding, boost conversions, and enhance everyday usability across the platform.

1. New Features
Passkey Authentication
With passkeys, users can sign in instantly using fingerprint, Face ID, or a device PIN instead of a traditional password.
- Users can register and sign in using a passkey (fingerprint, Face ID, or device PIN).
- Available on both web and mobile platforms.
- Passkeys are managed per device, providing a seamless and highly secure authentication experience.

2. Core Improvements & Bug Fixes
phpFox 5.2.3 brings a set of practical updates to streamline daily operations and improve the overall user experience across web and mobile.

Ban User from the Front End — Administrators can now ban users directly from the front-end interface, reducing the need to switch to AdminCP.

Share on Social (Mobile) — Users can share content to external social networks directly from the mobile app.

Auto Login After Verification (Mobile) — Users are automatically logged in after completing account verification during registration.

Android 16 Readiness — Upgraded to React Native 0.79, preparing the app for compatibility with Android 16 (Target API 36).

Mobile App Improvements — Faster app launch and improved feed loading for a smoother experience.
- In-App Background Upload (Mobile) — Users can keep using the app while photos and videos upload in the background for a smoother experience.

AdminCP Improvements — Data grids now support configurable rows per page, making it easier to manage large datasets.
3. Apps Improvements & Bug Fixes
Social Connect App
The social registration flow on mobile has been updated to provide better transparency and control during onboarding.
- Social Registration (Mobile) — A new intermediate step allows users to review and agree to the Terms of Service and choose notification preferences before their account is created.
This ensures a more complete onboarding experience while aligning with consent and communication preferences from the start.
Bug fixes
This release also includes a range of bug fixes for the following apps:
- Feed
- Video
- Marketplace
- Invitation
- Marketplace
- Event
…and other bug fixes and minor UI/UX improvements across the platform, such as Polls, Quizzes, Getting Started, ChatGPT Bot, Subscriptions, Groups, and more — helping ensure a smoother and more stable experience overall.
