Enable Smart Email Notifications
At the moment, if someone is subscribed to (let's say) a forum thread, they receive an email every time there is a reply. If the thread is popular, the member can be overwhelmed with emails.
These email notifications should be smarter. I would like to see only one notification email per event sent to the member. They will not receive any new notifications for this specific event until they log into their account and view the event.
Other forum software works like this and it's a great way to prevent members of popular phpFox communities being overwhelmed with emails and turning email notifications off completely.

Hi data66
Would be so kind as to reconsider your marking of this feature request as a duplicate? I have read through the request you linked to a few times, but still don't consider it to be the same request as this.
Specifically, that request is referring to a better way of the internal mail functioning. I am referring to the email notifications the software sends whenever a new event occurs (eg forum post, status update, new comment).
I really think my request is an essential feature and is provided by all the other software packages I use. I think phpFox would be all the richer if it offered so-called 'Smart' email notifications. It would prevent email overload to members (which results in them setting all notifications to 'No') and would reduce the number of spam complaints.
Please take another look - I would be very grateful if you would consider putting this back to a feature request as I genuinely feel it is a separate issue to the request you linked to.
Thank you for your consideration.
