http://phpfox.younetco.com/advanced-event.html

Advanced Event plugin includes many features that help users manage their online event registration and make their events more successful and profitable. Custom field for event categories is a great tool which helps admin add more fields to event creation or event edition such as: website, event type, etc. Users can browse for interested events by advanced search criteria: description, month, past events and proximity search (location + distance). Also, with provided blocks such as Featured Events, Calendar, Past Events, Advanced Event makes it easier for user to access any site event.

All in all, I'm happy with this module. The ability to add custom fields is very nice. And the advanced search is also worthwhile. (Although I don't understand what the "Range" feature is for. It seems extraneous to me).

However, I can't give it 5 stars for several reasons:

As T9 said in his review, "A Google map is shown on the "Add Event" page. In our case this map shows a little village in the middle of nowhere, i.e. it is neither the default map nor the current user location."

For me the map on the Add Event Page is several hundred miles away from my set default location. However, once an address is entered completely the map updates to the correct event location.

The biggest disappointment for me, however, is the lack of Mobile Theme usability. It correctly lists Featured and Upcoming Events, but if an event is clicked on, in a mobile theme, rather than displaying the event details it displays only the photo of the event... no details. With mobile becoming more and more important in today's internet use, this lack of event details in a mobile theme is a pretty big downfall.

Having said that, if you can live with the awkward default map location on the Add Event page, and you don't depend on a strong mobile presence, I can definitely recommend this.

The installation is straight forward and the module works as described. And, from previous experience, YouNetCo's support is very very good.

-- The Advanced Event module does not allow to specify an event repetition with multipliers (with a range of 1 - 30) for e.g. "repeat every" 2 weeks. The user is not able to create a YEARLY event.

-- The Advanced Event module supports Google Maps. The admin can specify a default location which can be shown on the index page. This default location, however, makes less sense when the default location is e.g. London and the user is sitting in Vietnam. The plugin doesn't support the current location detection of phpFox v3.4.0.

-- A Google map is shown on the "Add Event" page. In our case this map shows a little village in the middle of nowhere, i.e. it is neither the default map nor the current user location.

-- A very nice feature is the new and usefull support of the Google Calendar!

-- The plugin allows to create custom fields.

-- All in all the Advanced Event plugin works fine although it still has some minor issues.

Due to the plugin currently lacks the following "features" ...
-- the todays standard (and must-have) of "repeat every"-x feature and
-- the phpFox location detection with a fallback to a default location

... I cannot fully recommend it.

3 stars.

The module is excellent. It has helped us organize our events much more effectively. There are so many more features that I gained that were not available in the native event module.

Mostly importantly, when I discovered a problem for which I didn't fully understand, the support team at You Net was helpful and highly responsive. They are a great development team over there.

I can't wait to see some of the new modules and plugins they developer in the future.
