Yes, you can always upgrade by paying the difference between the editions.
If I have a other script integrated to my site can I add the chat in that section as well?
Yes, CometChat can run site-wide. You only have to copy the 2 lines of CometChat HTML code to all your site templates.
Do only friends show when they have the who's online or everyone on the site shows?
CometChat by default will show only friends in the "Who's Online" list (best for moderate to large sites). For small sites, you can setup CometChat to show all online users directly from CometChat Admin Panel.
How does the Audio/Video chat plugin work?
Our Audio/Video chat DOES NOT use your server in anyway as it is P2P based. It uses Adobe Stratus servers for connection initialization and the streaming takes place between both computers only. So your server resources are not used during video conversations. You do not need any special hardware or software to use the AVChat plugin. Only PHP + mySQL.

Cometchat is definitely a facebook style chatbar and works really well.
Their tech support was very helpful in installing my comet chat with customized chat bar, and they were able to help optimize the bar for speed and fix some minor conflicts that occurred with my site (because my site is highly customized).
This is an excellent product with excellent support. I highly recommend that you buy it and use it on your PHPFOX community site.
Tech Support: Fast and effective support via ticket, website forums at cometchat don't seem to give much from a user to user basis for support.
Product integration: Pretty much seamless into PHPFox 2.05. Install was simple, had one issue and tech support was very quick with a fix.
Usability: Quick, easy to use and navigate and userbase loves it. AV chat works well and has good quality even at full screen viewing. I am on a dedi server and even with close to 200 people online no degradation to site speed noticed.
Overall: I have the full suite (Platinum) and for my needs it works perfectly. I recommend this product.
