@dazzy u mentioned in review, these business directory and deals mods work well together. I am not getting where its linked. I am not getting options in neither directory nor deals.
Can anyone help me out.

In short

This is an absolutely fantastic module, although not without what I consider to be minor inconsistencies, it is still one of the hottest and best supported products for PhpFox. 5 out of 5.

In Detail

Where does one start with explaining what this module can do? There is no point me listing all the features again as you can clearly see those above in the product description.

I am going to list the small inconsistencies I mentioned above first and then I will get on to what I consider to be fantastic about this mod.

1. On the Business News Feed page, the news articles don’t use the full width of the box and there is quite a lot of unsightly white space on the right.

2. The comment system doesn’t follow the same styling as used throughout the rest of our sites and I personally think this is a real shame. In addition there is no comment rss feed which I can see unlike the rest of the comments on our sites.

3. Use Text Editor setting in the config panel seems to only apply to the Bio field of a Business and doesn’t apply it to all input boxes, news articles, comments, reviews etc

4. Custom css for Businesses, while this is a brilliant feature to have I would much rather have seen this tied into the existing V2 designer for groups, profiles etc and allow Businesses to quickly select a theme similar to their profile. Leaves a lot of work now to try and mimic these themes within this module. For example some might prefer a 2 column template but others might prefer the option of a 3 column template I am allowing on certain sections of my site.

5. It’s related to the previous one and I know it is unavoidable but say a business has a nice custom design, they post an event and it takes you back to the main events section and the default site theme.

These are all just minor things that probably most people won’t even notice at all; just these small things can sometimes drive me up the wall when designing a site as they don’t aid in providing a consistent UX across the entire site.

Now onto the good stuff, if I were asked to sum this mod up in one line it would be:

A very powerful and feature rich Directory module and if AE added a login and user system to this module they could easily sell it as one of the best standalone directory scripts available today.

Each Listing has what can only be considered as its own very mini site within your site; think about groups, but with so much more. I say Listing rather than Business as this mod, although sold as a Business Directory can lend itself to all sorts of Listings and not just Businesses, you can even control the url rewrite tag from the admin panel. However in my case I am reviewing this as a Business Directory.

There is no point me telling you every aspect of a business page as it’s easier to look at the demo site, but I can say that in addition to the inconsistencies I listed above there is very little missing here. I haven’t really had a lot of time to fully explore the admin panel yet either.

I do see settings to restrict which elements of a business page can be seen by certain people, it’s just a shame Businesses weren’t allowed to disable these things themselves but I guess the reason for that was Business could upgrade if they needed the extra features and aid in further monetising your site. But on the plus side these settings do give you some serious customisation options for your site.

There is also options to integrate this module with AE Store and upcoming Pbay Auction mod, I do have a license for the Store module but I haven’t got round to installing it so I can’t test this element for now. If any of you are using Teamwurkz Daily Deals mod the two of these work in tandem very well.

In some ways I feel the 1.6 version looks better, especially the main page, but I feel the same about so many of the modules available for V2, I have a feeling I may be in the minority here lol.

I honestly don’t know how to explain this mod and do it justice (as you may have guessed by now) and the best advice I can offer if you need a directory on your site is just go buy this and be assured you won’t be disappointed. This review might seem to dwell more on the negatives but like I said before these are only very very minor things and probably won’t bother 90% of people.

It is one massive module and you will have to spend a great deal of time planning how you want it to work before you even consider configuring it. What I mean by this is does your site use subscriptions? Who do you want to be able to add a directory listing? These are all questions you will have to give serious consideration before deploying this module on your live site. Gets a 5 star rating from me.
